The next chapter

The start of 2019 we had quite a few things on our mind. We had two main things that we wanted to accomplish - top of that list was the building of a column continuous still. This was not without its unique challenges. The still was being built in South AFrica - but it blew out mind really just how complicated it was. Now -we are not looking too tell the whole story here - just as the containers finally arrived - Covid just started to rear its ugly head…. Now that meant a few delays to the shipment - but more challenging was the fact that the export team that was meant to commission the stills was not likely to be able to make it out.

So what then started was an almost 2 year massive mechanical set that needed to be commissioned either via zoom or magic. Our magic skills were somewhat limited so what started was the longest commission of continuous column stills in the seychelles (actually it was the first ever continuous still in the seychelles).

There were a couple of elements that stood out - but chief among this is welding….. you really need someone who knows what they are doing to weld a still. `However on the island there was only one welder with the skill to do this. He had a full time job - but with a couple of calls and favours called in - we managed to get him to work once a week on his day offf. So started the longest welding job in history - bit by bit , elements started to come together.

However - what should have been a 3 week job - ended up taking well over 9 months
